Enheartenment;
Winter, Fear & the Freeze Response
An interactive conversation on the nervous system and how it relates to our internal states.
How on earth do the unique energies of winter, fear & the freeze response interweave?
Winter is our natural time to slow down, move inward and conserve resources. This biological withdrawal if you will, is an intelligent adaptation to protect what is vital. The freeze state harnesses a similar wisdom safeguarding our inmost self.
Freeze has a unique counterpart however, in that there is a vast amount of arousal or expenditure to insulate our vital selves. This contrast to the conservation of resources we witness eg. in winter, can create an internalized friction, where we experience a lot of energy in the form of tension, anxiety, insomnia or restlessness, yet simultaneously experience feeling stuck and immobilized.
However, when we witness and attend to our freeze response in ways soothing and encouraging to its ultimate needs, an abundance of life force is revealed. The survival energy bound in its facilitation of protection becomes a resource to move, and the tension of friction melts away.
Come join us in this 1.5 hour virtual somatic ceremony where we have a conversation on the freeze response, how we can witness winter as an allyship to understanding our freeze, and the emotions often associated. Both educational and experiential, Faegann will guide you into prompts to access personal felt-sense explorations of how you may experience freeze, and provide insights and practices to gently tend to your freeze state in loving, compassionate ways.
